My Research

Following my PhD, I was a Research Associate at the GCRF: Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub in Newcastle. My responsibilities included designing and delivering GIS training for project partners in Malaysia and the conceptual design of a spatio-temporal dashboard for water monitoring. I also collaborated with project partners from the Water and Land Resource Centre in Ethiopia.

QGIS training in Johor Bahru, Malaysia

I was delighted to teach the spatial fundamentals of GIS through to spatial interpolation and to offer project partners from academia and industry practical exercises using QGIS software.

Research visit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

I enjoyed learning from our project partners at the Water, Land and Resource Centre and discussing the possible technical implementation of a spatial-temporal database for monitoring water quality.

I am currently part of the National Hub for Decarbonised, Adaptable and Resilient Infrastructure. I am responsible for user research and am leading a case study on the impact of extreme weather events on mass participation events, using the Great North Run 2023 as an example.
